Our response to Covid-19

Rosa Dos Santos • March 18, 2021

Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our working lives, and here at Exact Sourcing we’ve had to respond to the ever-changing situation to enable us to continue to support our clients and candidates.

Our current opening hours are 08.45 to 17.30 Monday to Thursday and 08.45 to 17.00 on Fridays.

For the most part our team continues to work remotely, although some days are spent in the office with appropriate social distancing and Covid-19 secure practices in place.

In terms of registrations and screening, traditionally we have always interviewed face to face either in Cambridge or Newmarket, but we found that more and more people were finding it difficult to take time out of their day to do this. As a result, we started migrating over to video calls in 2019 to help us ensure that we were able to see everyone we were representing. We were therefore in a strong position when Covid-19 arrived, seamlessly moving everything online and we’ve been using virtual interviewing ever since. All interviews are now taking place via Zoom or other video platforms, and it’s worked like a dream!

As Exact Sourcing owner Rosa dos Santos points out, Covid-19 has required businesses to be flexible, but there are definitely positives to be taken from the pandemic. ‘As a recruitment agency in Cambridge and Newmarket, we have always been conscious of any changes in the recruitment market,’ says Rosa. ‘There is a definite increase in the levels of skill being required, especially within the technical and scientific sectors and those businesses that supply into them. We are seeing a number of great new opportunities come through and we are ensuring that high-quality candidates are primed and ready to take advantage of them.

‘For our own business, we have always focused on delivering a bespoke service to our corporate clients so that they know they can trust us only to put forward candidates who will be right for their organisational culture. And our personalised support to all our candidates ensures that they are in the best possible position to take a role that will not only give them real job satisfaction but also help them develop their career.

‘There’s no doubt that Covid-19 has been challenging, but we’ve made sure that we’ve adapted to each scenario and continued to service our clients and candidates throughout the pandemic.’

I've been in interview processes where I was left feeling awful and to be honest with you, it really knocked my confidence. I knew I could do the job but I just wasn't the best at the interview process itself, especially when it was in front of a panel. If you want to get the best out of someone within a short space of time, it's about pulling back the layers of that person to really understand their gifts and their gaps and how that could fit into the team and culture you have created or are creating.
